Alumni Awards 2019

The idea to hold an Alumni Awards event emerged in the aftermath of the highly successful centennial celebrations of the University of Washington Department of Architecture, held during the 2014-15 academic year. In reflecting on the storied past of this program, we became increasingly aware of the substantial body of accomplishments of our graduates – and of the need to acknowledge these achievements. The process began in earnest in the fall of 2016, with the intention of being able to bring together alumni, faculty and friends to celebrate our graduates on a bi-annual basis. The was met with enthusiastic support from all…” – Department Chair, Brian McClaren

In the spring of 2017, the Department of Architecture hosted our first Alumni Awards, recognizing two Distinguished Alums for lifetime achievement and three awards to Graduates of Last Decade (GOLD Award) for their contribution to growing the body of work and thought surrounding architecture and inspiring new futures in the field. Their work ranges from master planning and large urban constructions and iconic contemporary works to material explorations and innovations in the use of traditional building methods.
