Course Description

In October 2012, a devastating fire destroyed the former International Order of Odd Fellows building on Highway 101 in Forks, WA. Not only was it one of the most noble of the city’s original structures, but it housed the Rainforest Arts Center –  a key cultural resource in this important community on the Olympic Peninsula. The 2013 UWCollab/Fab studio partnered with the City of Forks and the RAC to propose ideas for a replacement, and based on our community engagement, the City Council voted to proceed with re-building – selecting NAC as architects for the New RAC. This spring a dozen UW architecture students will design, fabricate and install the final piece of this project, a set of Acoustic/Tactile/Visual Walls.
