Timber in the City

We are delighted to announce that our students from last winter’s ARCH 501 studio took home First and Third Place honors and an Honorable Mention at this year’s Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture “Timber in the City” competition! These represent three of the five awards given to the nearly 200 national entries from over 50 schools.

(Keen observers will note that the image used to promote this year’s competition was from the recognized submittal from the 501 studio we taught two years ago, when the competition was first offered.)

The competition victories were shared in Architect magazine as well as ArchDaily.  The projects will be on view at the 2016 Greenbuild Conference in Los Angeles (October 2016), the 2017 ACSA Annual Meeting in Detroit (March 2017) and the American Institute of Architects 2017 Convention in Orlando (April 2017).

We’re very proud of our students and all those in the studio and throughout the department who continue to display the strong conceptual thinking and design skills needed to be recognized on the regional and national stage. Let’s keep it going!
