Hotspot Pavilion: coming to the Seattle Waterfront in 2015

UW Today picked up the story about M. Arch students in Prof. Peter Cohan’s studio who were selected to design and build a new temporary event pavilion on Seattle’s waterfront.  This project is a collaborative effort between the Department of Architecture and Friends of Waterfront Seattle. In addition to Cohan, the faculty team includes Kimo Griggs (in charge of fabrication) and Kate Simonen (in charge of structural engineering). The studio will obtain construction and permit documents in winter quarter, and the Pavilion will be fabricated and erected in Waterfront Park during spring quarter. We are excited and honored to be working on this capstone project during the centennial year of our department!
