UW Architecture’s Professionals Advisory Council (PAC) has been running a program of paid internships in Seattle-area design offices since 2011, with the primary intention of offering an introduction to the design workplace to students completing the first year of the Department’s 3-year M Arch program. The internship program aims to achieve student placements for 320-400 hours of employment over the summer. Following the Architectural Experience Program (AXP) guidelines of the National Council of Architect Registration Boards (NCARB) requirements, workplace supervisors monitor and mentor interns, and report students’ experience to the department’s Graduate Program Coordinator.
Interested students from the eligible cohort apply through the Department during the winter quarter for the upcoming summer internships. The number of available internships is different each year, as it depends on voluntary firm participation and the overall economic conditions of the building industry.
See the PAC website for additional information.
