Galen Minah
Associate Professor Emeritus
Galen Minah is an Associate Professor of Architecture in the College of Built Environments. He teaches graduate and undergraduate design studios, freehand drawing, watercolor, and “Color & Light”, a course exploring the role of color in design. He also teaches in the Architecture in Rome program.
Professor Minah received his B.A. in English from Duke University and his B.Arch. and M.Arch. from the University of Pennsylvania with Louis Kahn. He worked in the offices of Robert Venturi and Louis Kahn in Philadelphia. He is a registered architect in the State of Washington, and was the founder of ARC Architectural Resources Collaborative, in Seattle, 1975. With this partnership his work included schools, sheltered workshops, training centers, community centers, housing and specialized facilities for special users, disadvantaged children and adults. His present practice includes residential design and development. Professor Minah’s research, the role of color in architectural and urban form, has been presented at several international conferences. In 2014 a book with Yulia Griber, University of Smolensk, Urban Colour: Experience in American and European Traditions, was published in Russia.
