The EDI video on building intercultural competence provides an introduction to the developmental model that underpins the CBE approach to EDI. It is a great introduction for students, as well as new faculty and staff. All are invited to view the video and attend the follow-up Q&A discussion with the Dean next Thursday.
Student EDI discussion and Q&A with the Dean
October 1, 5:00-6:00pm
Register in advance for this webinar:
We are in the process of updating the CBE EDI web content and hope to have that up soon; so please keep an eye out for that as there will be new resources for students, faculty and staff; you can always direct folks to the current set of videos for further learning.
We are building a rich set of resources and look forward to building more in the coming year. Please let me know if you have any questions.
- Office space general guidelines
- Home studio setup tips
- This is a recorded webinar at the Stanford link on their EHS website, specifically covering home resources for good computer/laptop posture: https://ehs.stanford.edu/news/ehs-mobile-ergonomics-webinar
- This is a workstation setup PowerPoint from the University of Michigan and it also includes a couple slides on symptom troubleshooting: https://ehs.umich.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2017/07/Office-Ergo-Self-Learning.pptx
- We, of course, have our own Guide here: https://www.ehs.washington.edu/system/files/resources/WorkstationAdjustmentGuidelines.pdf
- And, since no office ergonomics program is effective without frequent, short stretch breaks for the eyes and body, here are some examples of exercises to be performed, including recommendations on time schedules:
- Helpful back stretches (Note: Please do not try to do all the exercises with all the reps right away. If you try this, first just try to learn the positions, and then start with a single repetition in each position. Work up to the full set very gradually.)
- In addition, the EHS Ergonomics website provides for a system of requesting an ergonomic evaluation: https://www.ehs.washington.edu/secure/ergonomics-evaluation. Interested individuals working on campus(es) can fill out this form, which will then set up an online self-assessment evaluation that the employee can complete themselves. However, during work from home, if anybody needs assistance with reviewing their workstation setup and providing recommendations, as necessary, CBE’s Meegan Amen would be glad to attempt such evaluations by Zoom or FaceTime. Anyone interested can email her and she will coordinate with you.
